The Cloud.bg is a Linux, L.A.M.P cloud. It’s clustered server infrastructure is built on the Red Hat Cluster Suite (RHCS) with a kernel-based VM virtualization layer. The company runs Fuscan Linux Cloud (Fuscan LBC) on top of RHCS. This is a cloud management technology of Single OS LLC, a U.S. producer of enterprise hosting automation software. Cloud.bg runs cPanel/WHM on top of a load-balanced cluster of virtual and/or physical machines and to provide High Availability cPanel hosting services. The company’s hosting architecture model is scalable up to 128 processing nodes. Its cloud hosting technology model is similar in concept to the Rackspace Cloud Sites, with automated redundancy.

Shared Cloud Hosting

The company’s service can be defined as “Shared Cloud” or “Shared Cloud Hosting”. Its system does not create isolated virtual instances. Cloud accounts are hosted on top of a cluster of servers and share the resources of the whole cloud. The system provides high availability, automated load-balancing, full redundancy and flexibility. Cloud.bg uses external storage systems to host the data. All the data resides on Storage Area Network (SAN), replicated for redundancy.

The web hoster runs cPanel/WHM on top of its cloud infrastructure. The users do not deal with cloud specific operations and manage websites using the familiar interface of cPanel’s “Domain Owner Panel”. Cloud.bg allows for IP load-balancing across the cluster of servers. The load-balancer automatically detects new IP addresses added in cPanel. The service (Load-balancer is a service in Cloud.bg’s infrastructure, not a physical device) configures the load-balancing for all services running on the customers’ websites (IP addresses). In case of failure of any server part of cloud infrastructure, the load-balancer excludes the failed server from the operational group of processing nodes.

Reseller Cloud Hosting

The company’s platform allows for reselling of a cloud hosting services. The Resellers use cPanel’s “Root and Reseller Admin Panel” interface to manage websites. The Reseller level cloud accounts allows for load-balancing of the IP based virtual hosts.

cPanel is a Unix based web hosting control panel that provides a graphical interface and automation tools designed to simplify the process of hosting a web site. cPanel utilizes a 3 tier structure that provides functionality for administrators, resellers, and end-user website owners to control the various aspects of website and server administration through a standard web browser.

In addition to the GUI interface cPanel also has command line and API based access that allows third party software vendors, web hosting organizations, and developers to automate standard system administration processes.

cPanel is designed to function either as a dedicated server or virtual private server and it supports CentOS, Red Hat Linux, and FreeBSD.

Application-based support includes Apache, PHP, MySQL, Postgres, Perl, and BIND (DNS). Email based support includes POP3, IMAP, SMTP services. cPanel is commonly accessed on port 2082, with an SSL-secured server operating on port 2083.

The Philippines has a complex student union. The Student Government Program of the elementary and secondary schools is handled by the Department of Education while the student councils in state universities and colleges is under the Commission on Higher Education.

Student Government Program (SGP)

In the Philippines, every public and private high schools under the Department of Education (DepED) has its own student governments. Every 1st week of September, delegates from all over the country (student government officers) join the National Leadership Training for Student Government Officers or the NLTSGO, wherein they undergo intensive leadership trainings and also elect the set of NFSSG officers.

The Center for Students and Co-curricular Affairs of the Department of Education is in charge of the Student Government Program, the flagship program of the Supreme Student Governments (SSG) and Supreme Pupil Governments (SPG).

The Alumni Association of Student Government Officers (Acronym: AASGO) is the organization of former Supreme Student Government officers from different secondary schools around the country, enrolled in the college or tertiary level.

Members are those officers elected under the Synchronized SSG Elections (February 2002 – present) and appointed under the Standard SSG Constitution and By-Laws (July 2005 – present).

There are four active AASGOs in the country:

AASGO-WVSU was founded by Von Rojohn Rubio and Rhamyl Obligar on July 2, 2010. The organization seek recognition but failed. As of late August of 2010, together with 12 other unrecognized organizations in West Visayas State University, they are planning to file a petition to recognize all unrecognized organizations including AASGO-WVSU.

Transitional AASGO-WVSU (2010-2011)

The transitional period starts September 13, 2010 (five days after the official launch of NAASGO) until February 4, 2011 with the official launch of AASGO-WVSU and Inauguration of the AASGO-WVSU Elected and Appointed Officers.

Student Councils in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)

Every state college and universities in the Philippines has its own student councils. In a university, there is a university student council and every college has its college student council. If a university has external campus(es), the external campuses has its own student council. The student councils within the university (main campus and external campuses) has the student regent, which would represent studentry of the whole university. One example of that is of the West Visayas State University.

The online control panel was custom built by and for the Rackspace Cloud service (as opposed to using control panel software like cPanel as is often the case with traditional web hosting providers).

It includes management interfaces for the Cloud Sites, Cloud Servers and Cloud Files services as well as a web based file manager. It also allows users to manage multiple clients and the plans and products (e.g. databases, 24×7 support) that apply to them, with white label branding options for messaging. The clients themselves have access to a restricted version of the control panel that allows them to conduct administrative tasks such as managing mail accounts.

The control panel is also home to the billing and reporting functions and provides access to support materials including developer resources, a knowledge base, forums and live chat.
